Employment ServicesThe League operates the Rochester Works Career Training Center at the Monroe County Department of Human Services at 691 St. Paul Street. The Career Training Center specializes in helping low-income individuals achieve economic self-sufficiency. The Center is a structured career center and 27-station computer lab offering career assessments and career development workshops.

Customers can take career assessments such as Prove It! to determine what areas of employment are best for their skills. Other online assessment and skill development programs such as Work Keys and Key Train are also available. The Center also offers comprehensive case management to track clients' progress and to provide follow-up services for additional training needs.

The Career Training Center works closely with the Department of Human Services to operate intensive case management programs to assist public assistance recipients become more self-sufficient.

Case management programs include:

  • Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency Program, which focuses on providing sanctioned (noncompliant) TANF and Safety Net recipients with group case management, placement and post-placement services and referrals to other needed resources.
  • Paths to Recovery, which serves Safety Net recipients who are participating in treatment for chemical dependency.
  • The Pathways Program, which is designed to help welfare recipients move into the workforce.
