Family and Children Services

Urban League of Rochester offers several programs to improve the quality of life of our senior citizens and vulnerable families with children.

  • The Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly (EISEP) Program helps the frail elderly remain in their own homes by providing appropriate and cost-effective non-medical support services.

  • The Family Consultant Program provides intensive family counseling, crisis intervention, parenting skills training and assistance in accessing and utilizing community resources for families at risk of losing their children to foster care.

  • Parenting Education Classes - a series of eight 90-minute classes are held on a weekly basis. Participants gain knowledge of positive parenting practices, child development, and age-appropriate expectations for their children. The classes consist of an educational segment including informational handouts and videos and followed by role-play and group activities.

  • The Senior Support Group meets on a monthly basis to discuss topics determined by the group and to share information. The meetings include speakers, group activities, food and fun! The participants must be at least 55 years of age and live in Monroe County.
