Description
The Urban League of Rochester is seeking a Accounting Manager that will assist the Chief Financial Officer in directing and coordinating the financial activities of the Organization including accounting, reporting, budgeting, internal control functions and other duties as needed. The identified Accounting Manager will work independently with little supervision. The position requires a broad knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Successful candidate will be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the company's financial systems and statements ensuring compliance with accounting standards, applicable laws/regulations and internal control procedures. Additional responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: preparation of monthly Subsidiary financial results with appropriate variance analysis to plan and forecast, preparation of cash and financial forecasts, supervision of staff, payroll and general accounting.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the VP of Finance the Accounting Manager will:
- 1. Manage the day-to-day operation of the General Accounting function including supervising payroll and account payable.
- 2. Support the financial requirements of the subsidiary including Intercompany transactions
- 3. Account reconciliations & account analysis
- 4. Assist with Board Meeting presentations as well as participate in meetings as needed
- 5. General Ledger maintenance
- 6. Assist with development/maintenance of fiscal budgets
- 7. Assist with financial audit requests and other audits (funders, state, federal, local) as needed
- 8. Work with CFO developing cash flow projections, monitoring cash, maintaining current status reports
- 9. Positively represent the finance organization in events and meetings
- 10. Other projects as needed
Qualifications
- Masters' degree preferred.
- High standard of ethics, enthusiasm and passion with a consistent positive attitude a must
- Minimum 3-5 experience with progressive accounting responsibilities/duties
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other departments and disciplines
- Excellent employee management skills required
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and follow through required. Must be able to problem solve, meet deadlines and deliver results
- Strong technical competence and the ability to effective use excel/related software applications, general ledger, report writing
