The Urban League of Rochester, NY, Inc. (ULR) invites qualified and experienced applicants to participate in a Request for Proposals (RFP) process aimed at guiding and executing a comprehensive strategic planning process for the development of a three-year plan (2025-2028). As the League undertakes this crucial endeavor, it seeks applicants who can seamlessly integrate a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Anti-racist lens to inform and shape the upcoming strategic plan. The successful applicant will work closely with the President & CEO, leadership team, and several board members to develop the specific details and logistics of the planning process.

All proposals are due by February 23, 2024 at 5:00 pm EST.

All complete proposals received by this date will receive full consideration.

Who is eligible to apply?

What is the deadline?

All proposals are due by February 23, 2024 at 5:00 pm EST. All complete proposals received by this date will receive full consideration. Proposals must be submitted electronically to: Dr. Seanelle Hawkins, President and CEO, c/o ebenedick@ulr.org

How long can the proposal be?

Proposals must be clear, succinct and not exceed fifteen (15) pages. Title page, table of contents, and cover letter do not count in the overall page count of the proposal. Applicants who submit more than the pages indicated may not have the additional pages of the proposal read or considered.

How should the proposal be formatted?

Expected services to be provided and deliverables for this consultancy include:

  • A project plan that demonstrates a clear understanding of the work to be performed, estimated hours, and other information relevant to the project
  • Qualifications of applicant and consulting staff who will be assisting with the project such as; education, position, past relevant experience
  • Work plan for the consultancy to include timelines and desired outcomes
  • Time and cost projections
  • Three client references

Can I mail in my proposal?

Can I schedule a meeting or call with Urban League staff to ask questions?

No, Dr. Hawkins (President & CEO) and other leadership are not permitting meetings with any potential RFP applicants, as they don't want any applicants to have an unfair advantage. How many individuals are employed at the Urban League of Rochester?

There are presently approximately 80 employees.

Are joint applications in which one applicant is prime and another is a subcontractor permitted for this effort?

Yes, such applications will be considered. We will require a résumé for each individual associated with your proposal be included.
